An overnight repair was needed to the pumping station at Alverstone on Thursday.
Southern Water staff worked through Thursday, and overnight into Friday, on the narrow rural road through the village.
A spokesperson said: "We’re sorry for the disruption this has caused.
"There was a failure on the rising main from the wastewater pumping station at Alverstone Shute Water Pumping Station.
"Our teams completed a repair overnight and we have now stood down tanker activity."
It follows the introduction of tankers along Church Road in Shanklin, on and off over the last few weeks.
The tankers were deployed to assist with the extra demand while some local storage reservoirs was out for cleaning.
Southern Water said they expect the reservoir to be returned to service by May 22.
Temporary traffic lights have been in place in Shanklin.
