A main road in and out of Ventnor has been shut after a large void appeared under the carriageway.
Newport Road has been closed for safety reasons, according to Island Roads.
The void has appeared on the stretch of road near The Graben.
A spokesperson for the firm said: "We're currently investigating and will provide updates as we have them.
We're closing Newport Road, Ventnor, for safety reasons after finding a substantial void under the highway in the Graben area.

UPDATE:
The road is open but there are temporary traffic lights, the County Press has been told.
Work is expected to be completed later today, Island Roads has said.

The void has been filled and the road is now open under traffic lights, which are expected be removed this evening.
Island Roads says it will continue to monitor the situation over the weekend.
