AN ISLE of Wight marching band is heading to Belgium to represent the UK in a major international parade.
The Island’s very own Medina Marching Band will be at the Roeselare VE Day International Tattoo, held in Polenplein, Roeselare, this Saturday.
The Newport-based band has been working on a new display in recent weeks, arranged by Drum Major Jason Penney.
The day will kick off with a parade around the town, and close with a massed band performance of Band of Brothers, European Anthem, the Last Post, and the national anthems of the participating bands’ countries.
Chairman, Kevin Downer, said: “It’s a real honour we have been selected to represent the Island at this international event.
“We will be showcasing our new display at events throughout the summer here on the Island, and at London Band Week, which the band is honoured to have also been selected to take part in.
“We are certainly in for an exciting season along with all the great events here on the Island and mainland that we will be performing at over the summer.”
