Islanders are among those taking on the Isle of Wight challenge this weekend - up to 106km.

Raising money for charity, they set off from Chale and will walk a circular route, taking in Freshwater, Ryde, Newport and Bembridge, along the way.

Penny Langborne was hoping to walk for Mountbatten, in memory of her dad, Dr John Smith.

She has been forced to pull out of the 65 mile route, due to a family emergency.

She told the Isle of Wight County Press she was astounded by the generosity of her supporters and planned to undertake the walk as soon as possible.

Steven Turner is taking on the challenge to raise money for the charity Target Ovarian Cancer.

He lost his wife to the condition in September 2022, after she was diagnosed at Stage four.

He warns it is an all too common experience, because the symptoms are subtle.

Target Ovarian Cancer aims to raise awareness of the symptoms among women and doctors.
