THE CEO of one of the country's leading charities — Prostate Cancer UK — is coming to the Isle of Wight to take part in this weekend's round-the-Island Ultra Challenge.

Laura Kerby, of Stroud, Gloucestershire — accompanied by her team, The Cheeserollers — is set to walk the 106km coastal route to raise money for the largest men’s health charity.

With a career spent in the world of healthcare, the 53-year-old — who became CEO in March last year — has dedicated the past eight years to the fight against cancer.

The Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge is the latest in a series of epic walks for Laura and The Cheeserollers.

In 2021, the team took on the Thames Path challenge and walked 100km, then last year took on a 50km hike in the Peak District.

However, at 106km, the Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge will be the furthest Laura and the team have ever walked — and they are itching to get going.

“My passion for long distance walking started with the London Moonwalk in 2012,” Laura said.

“Since then, I have walked over 350km to raise money for various charities.

"I'm looking forward to the sea views, coastal climbs and, hopefully, blue skies and hearing the inspiring stories of some of the other 2,000 walkers taking on this epic challenge too."

Laura, who set herself a cash raising target of £1,500, has just surpassed that.
