A 999 call from a stricken vessel which had run aground near Hurst Castle led to a call-out for Yarmouth RNLI.
Lifeboat crews were alerted by Solent Coastguard at 3.45pm yesterday (Sunday).
A 6.5 meter RIB had run aground west of Hurst Castle.
The crew's Y-boat and All-Weather Lifeboat were called and upon arrival, it was found one of three people onboard the boat had entered the water.
It was later discovered that they had made it out unaided, and were making their own way home.
Lymington Coastguard took the two other passengers to Keyhaven where they waited while the RIB was towed by Yarmouth RNLI.
Richard Pimm, Yarmouth Lifeboat’s Full Time Mechanic, said: “It is always important when venturing out on the water for pleasure or business purposes that the appropriate means of safety equipment are always made readily available in the chance of situations like this.
"This includes lifejackets or buoyancy aids for all parties, and communication devices such as mobile phones or handheld VHF radios should you need to contact the emergency services.
"A good app to download on mobile devices is the SafeTRX, which you can also use to plan your journey.”
The incident was Yarmouth RNLI's fifth shout of the year.
