COWS have escaped their field and wandered into a busy road in Northwood this morning.

Motorists are urged to drive slowly and beware of the cows while the farmer is sought.

Jill Holland spotted the cows on Nodes Road, near Cowes, this morning, and posted the photo on to the Lost Pets IOW Facebook group, hoping to alert the farmer.

They were seen heading towards Northwood Garage and the main Newport Road.

Jill said: "They were eating off the bushes in one of the house driveways. I pulled over and they came out onto the road, a guy in a red car worked his way through them and they have trotted off towards the garage."
