Police have issued a warning to an individual found smoking cannabis near an Isle of Wight primary school this evening (Friday, April 21).

Newport Neighbourhood Team were alerted after nearby residents complained about people smoking cannabis in the recreation ground behind Nine Acres Primary School.  

Officers patrolled the area and located a person smoking cannabis.

The individual was spoken to by police and was issued a Community Resolution Order, with the cannabis seized for destruction.

Community Resolutions, which can include apologies or offers of compensation, allow police to deal with appropriate ‘low-level’ offences and offenders without the need for arrests and prosecution.
