Southern Water says most customers affected by the burst water main in Newport this morning (Sunday, April 16) should be back in supply.
The water company was made aware of a burst in the PO30 5JH (Hunnyhill) area of Newport shortly after 4am.
A team was sent to the site to investigate, isolate the broken pipe and make the necessary repairs.
At 10.20am, Southern Water confirmed that most of those affected should have running water once again.
Pressure may be lower than normal as the water is re-routed around the network.
Some properties in the Riverway and Dodnor areas, just north of Hunnyhill, are still out of supply.
A spokesperson said: "We’re working hard to make repairs and get things back to normal. We do apologise for the disruption and inconvenience.”
Southern Vectis' route one service, between Newport and Cowes, has returned to its usual route via Hunnyhill.
