An award-winning family-run Isle of Wight campsite has been named as the best caravan park in the south-east in a coveted competition run by the Practical Motorhome and Practical Caravan magazines.
Whitefield Forest Touring Park on Brading Road, near Ryde, was named the in the publication as the regional winner for the south-east of England.
The campsite has also been included in the Top 100 Sites Guide 2023.
Voted for by guests staying at the parks, with the winner announced in March, the Whitefield Forest site is surrounded by woodland and lush green countryside.
The Touring Park offers standard or fully serviced pitches – both grass and hardstanding – for caravans, motorhomes and tents.
The site also has a woodland walk and a squirrel hide to observe the abundant Island wildlife, such as red squirrels, and, in springtime, a sea of bluebells.
Pat, Simon and Louise Glover, owners of Whitefield Forest Touring Park, said: “During our 16 seasons at the park, we have worked hard to make sure we look after and develop the park sympathetically to support the native trees and wildlife on site, as well as providing a high-quality place for people to come and stay and explore the Isle of Wight and all it has to offer.
“We have lots of red squirrels in the forest and try to support them by maintaining a squirrel-friendly environment and providing them with food throughout the year.
“Visitors to the park love the chance to see red squirrels in their natural environment.”
