A police helicopter has been spotted flying over the Isle of Wight this morning (Thursday).

The National Police Air Service (NPAS) aircraft, from Bournemouth, was seen in the skies above Newport.

It was spotted just before 10.30am.

One area of focus appeared to be Parkhurst Forest.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed to the County Press that the activity relates to an ongoing missing person investigation.

The force said it has nothing further to add at this stage.
