EMERGENCY service teams are responding to another incident involving a person stuck in mud on the Isle of Wight this evening (Monday).

HM Coastguard says it is co-ordinating a multi-agency response to the situation at Priory Bay.

They are responding to reports of a person stuck in 'quicksand', and the incident is ongoing.

Coastguard rescue teams from Bembridge and Ventnor, Bembridge RNLI, and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, have all been sent to help.

It is not the first time coastguard teams have been called to free someone from mud in recent days.

On Saturday, crews rescued a woman stuck up to her waist in mud near Fort Albert.

She was freed, together with two others, and taken back to shore by lifeboat.

Lymington RNLI were among the rescue teams called to the scene.

UPDATE:

A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said: "The casualty was rescued from the sand and taken to shore by lifeboat, to be passed into the care of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service."
