Concerns for the welfare of a lone sailor led to a call-out for an Isle of Wight lifeboat crew.
Yarmouth RNLI was tasked to a 40 foot yacht, sailing south west of The Needles Lighthouse, at around 8.30pm last night (Wednesday).
After communicating with the skipper, it was found he had lost machinery and navigation equipment.
He told crews he still had enough power for navigation lights and was happy to continue on his own, however.
Following a welfare check with coastguard via his mobile, the life boat left the scene.
Crews returned to station by 10.10pm.
