AN ISLE of Wight woman was eight months’ pregnant when she battered her ex-partner, punching and kneeing him in the face.

Jasmine Eveleigh-McDonald, of Lake Green Road, Lake, appeared before Isle of Wight magistrates on Friday, March 31.

At a previous hearing, the 31-year-old admitted two counts of assault by beating on December 23.

Prosecutor, Liz Miller, told the court both assaults were against the same victim – Eveleigh-McDonald’s ex-partner.

On the first occasion, Ms Miller said she punched the victim several times in front of a social worker and tried to knee him in the chest.

On the second occasion, Eveleigh-McDonald directed a punch at the victim without warning and kneed him in the face, causing a split lip.

Jim Osborne, defending, said Eveleigh-McDonald had been eight months pregnant at the time of the assault and had not been taking her medication.

He said she suffered from schizophrenia, and failing to take her medication had a serious effect on her mental health.

Eveleigh-McDonald was handed an 18-month community order, to include 35 rehabilitation days.

She was fined £108 and ordered to pay £50 compensation, costs of £85 and a £114 surcharge.
