THANK you to everyone who has shared their success from this year's Isle of Wight Music, Dance and Drama Festival (IWMDDF).
Annabelle Smith, who is taught by Linda Filby-Borrett and dances with the Joel Morris Dance Academy, entered four singing categories and acheived two first place and two second place finishes.
She earned first place in both of her grade 6 piano entries, and acheived third place in her Ballet Solo 12 years class.
Lottie Paine, who attends The Island Free School, won the Disney Solo 14-16 years class, with 87 marks, singing Someday from the Hunchback of Notre Dame.
This class ended a very successful music festival for Lottie, gaining two first places, five second places and two third places.
Sophie Cassford competed in the Acro Solo 11-12 years at this year’s Festival, achieving first place with a score of 86.
Carmen Menzies was awarded the Sandown Operatic Cup at the Festival presentations for the highest potential in a solo song of any age.
Her sister, Olivia, won the Classical Greek Solo 10 years. Both are students of Fusion Arts Academy.
Fusion Arts Academy's Natalie de Bootman, Tilly Howden, Rose Thompson, Lily-Rose Van Wyk, Beatrice Bottriell, Hattie Young, Ronnie Goldthorpe, Lucy McCutcheon, Benny Young, Maci Mitchell, Juniper Stitchbury, Mirabelle Nader-Denman and Emma Willey claimed victory in the Song and Dance Group 10 years and under category.
Grace Dempsey, taught by Linda Filby-Borrett, entered three vocal categories, earning a second-place finish and two first-place awards.
She has taken part in the Festival since she was eight years old, now 13, and always enjoys the experience.
Fusion Arts Academy's Emma Willey, Mary Couzens, Jazzmin Salter, Primrose Redhead, Olivia Menzies, Evie Bridgeman, Jessica Stevens were the Freestyle Group 14 and under winners.
Aria Morgan’s performance saw her clinch second place in the Ballet Solo 6 years at the IWMDDF.
Emma Willey of Fusion Arts Academy, won the Ballet Solo 8 years at this year’s Festival.
A Ballet Boost Associate in London, Emma has recently been awarded a scholarship with the English Youth Ballet to perform in their production of Swan Lake at the Kings Theatre in Southsea.
Jazzmin Salter, Emma Willey and Olivia Menzies, from Fusion Arts Academy, won the Song and Dance Trio 10 years and under.
Adjudicator Judith Vardey described their performance as “a delightful arrangement with all partners working with pleasing characterisation and conviction."
Lily-Mai Green, from Ker-Mel School of Dance, earned the top spot in her Ballet class.
She teamed up with Eliza Gaterell to win the Dance Classical Duet 10 years and under, with their performance 'A Day on the Ice'.
Elkie MacGregor, taught by the Joel Morris Dance Academy, achieved first place in the Ballet Solo 6 years.
May McCathie, Jazzmin Salter, Olivia Menzies, Emma Willey, Leana Mendoza and Mary Couzens - all from Fusion Arts Academy - won the Modern Group 14 years and under category.
Josie Flask, Lottie Paine and Ava Cowan – all from the Joel Morris Dance Academy – won the song and dance trio category with a total of 89 marks – receiving a special award for their high marks.
Josie and Lottie teamed up again to win the song and dance duet, receiving the Stanton Trophy for the highest mark in the category, and achieved second place in the modern duet class.
Emily Martin claimed second place in the Ballet Solo 14 years and the Lyrical Modern Solo 13-14 categories.
She teamed up with Ava Cowan and Erin Plimley to win the Classical Trio 21 years and under class, and with Ava, came second in Classical Duet 14 years and under.
