A MAN was arrested after kicking off and getting aggressive outside an Isle of Wight pub, a court heard.

Peter Hilditch, of Attoxhall Road, Coventry, appeared before Isle of Wight magistrates on Tuesday, March 28.

The 37-year-old admitted being drunk and disorderly in a public place, in Newport, on March 12.

Prosecutor, Tom Corke, told the court police had been called following reports of a man behaving in a boisterous manner.

He said they arrived at the scene to find Hilditch being restrained by a member of staff outside a public house.

He was described as being drunk, glassy eyed and slurring his words.

The court heard he didn’t take his opportunity to be released and continued to be argumentative, leading to concerns that there could be further aggression.

Hilditch, representing himself, apologised for wasting magistrates’ time and for being stupid on the night.

He said he had been wrongfully accused of punching a woman and that was the reason for his anger.

Hilditch was fined £184 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £74 surcharge.
