ISLAND primary schools have been celebrating its student’s success at this year’s Isle of Wight Music, Dance and Drama Festival (IWMDDF).

Queensgate Primary School, in East Cowes, took its nine child KS1 choir and its 20 child KS2 choir to compete in the primary school choir classes at the IWMDDF – bringing home the Newport Parish Council Challenge Shield and the Sister Patricia Cup.

A spokesperson from Queensgate said: “Some children were a bit nervous about performing at All Saint’s Church, Ryde, as they had never done anything like this before, but everybody overcame their nerves and sang their hearts out.

“We are so proud of all the children, not only for their great performances, but for their hard work and dedication put in the weeks beforehand."
