One of Newport's oldest buildings, nestled among shops in the Isle of Wight's St Thomas’s Square and home to a successful tea room, is on the market for £300,000 through Hose Rhodes Dickson.
Offered as an investment opportunity, God's Providence House is currently a cafe of the same name and its tenant has around eight years left on a 25 year lease.
During the 16th century, the house was reputed to be the only one in the town in which there were no deaths from the plague - spared due to God's Providence, it was said.
There has been a property on the site since 1524 and the door and foyer flagstones are original.

In around 1700, the former bakery was partly damaged by fire.
A year later, it was rebuilt as a three-floor private residence - using timbers from a shipwreck.
This listed building comprises a main café and tearoom, two dining room areas and a commercial kitchen, on the ground floor.
