RED FUNNEL'S vehicle ferry service between East Cowes and Southampton has been delayed further into this afternoon due to fog (Tuesday, February 14).
Earlier, the service was hit was delays after the density of the fog saw the 7.30am ferry unable to leave East Cowes.
It meant that passengers were left stranded onboard until being allowed to leave at 8.30am, and the ferry moved away at 9.40am.
The vehicle ferry is delayed by up to 90 minutes due to earlier disruption from fog, but is still running.
A spokesperson said: "Please still arrive as normal for your booked sailing. We are working to reduce delays and apologise for the delay to your onward journey."
The Red Jet service is currently running around ten minutes behind due to the weather conditions.
Leanna Lakes, operations director at Red Funnel, said: “Due to the reduced visibility this morning, we were required to delay the 7.30am East Cowes departure which unfortunately caused delays to our services.
"The safety of our passengers and teams is always our priority and we must adhere to General Directions for Cowes Harbour which promote safe navigation.
“We advise anyone travelling today to check the service status on the Red Funnel website where updated departure and arrival times are available.
"We do appreciate that this will disrupt people’s plans for today and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
