"I also have many friends with family members in the affected areas", she said.
"It's been touch and go. Many friends have lost a lot of family.
"Being on the Isle of Wight I felt isolated and thought 'what could we do to help'."Jolean contacted Mad-Aid, which has agreed to collect items at its East Cowes hub.
Donations are piling up in Jolean's front room.
Although the charity isn't running the appeal, it has agreed to help with sorting items and transporting the aid to London, where it can then be loaded on lorries and taken to Turkey.
Jolean is asking for new clothing like coats, jumpers, boots, trousers, jumpers and hats and scarves.
Other items include new blankets, thermal wear, torches, tents and canned food.
