THE closure date for LloydsPharmacy, within the Isle of Wight's only Sainsbury's superstore in Newport, has been confirmed.
On January 19, the pharmacy announced that all 237 pharmacy sites within the UK superstore will be axed, following a strategic review on where it needed to cut services.
It has not been disclosed how many workers will be affected by this course of action.
The LloydsPharmacy section of Sainsbury’s on Foxes Road, found in the centre of the store, will close on July 25.
Remember to make alternative arrangements for prescriptions in plenty of time.
The news surrounding the Sainsbury’s pharmacy came just a week before the County Press reported that the Pyle Street branch is to undergo a ‘change of ownership’.
The expected new owner is Day Lewis Pharmacy, which also has pharmacies at the top of Newport High Street and in Carisbrooke, with Newport set to lose its last LloydsPharmacy.
The change of ownership, and the closure of the Sainsbury's store, will mean the Island’s only LloydsPharmacy shops will be in East Cowes and Ryde.
