A Binstead woman's sponsored walk in memory of her friend, has raised more than two thousand pounds for charity.

Mandy Trigg, of Church Road, trekked 22 miles, starting in her home village, and finishing at Osborne House, East Cowes.

She embarked on the challenge in aid of Julia Lloyd, who died in August 2022, following a battle with Motor neurone disease.

She said: "I thought 'what can I do?' I do several walks for charity so I did that for her.

"I went from Binstead, through to Havenstreet, through to Newchurch, into Newport and finished up at Osborne House because she loved it there.

"Because she also loved royalty, a couple of us went over the pub opposite [Prince of Wales] for a couple of drinks with her."

Through sponsorship forms and word of mouth, Mandy has managed to raise an impressive £2,650.

"She would have absolutely loved this", Mandy said.

"Especially with the total we've raised."

The money will go to charity Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Accompanied by Julia's two granddaughters, Tilly and Beau, Mandy was presented with a cheque at Binstead pub, the Fleming Arms on Wednesday (01).
