A FROST alert remains in place for the Isle of Wight tonight, but it should start to feel a little less chilly as we look ahead towards the weekend.
The IW Met Service has a frost alert in place for this evening (Thursday), as a clear night is expected with widespread frost.
Temperatures are forecast to be between 0°C to -1°C, falling as low as -3°C in a few sheltered spots but closer to 3°C around windward coasts, says the IW Met Service.
By midnight, most of the Island will see low to moderate air and ground frost, bringing with it icy road conditions overnight and into the morning (Friday).
As for tomorrow, Islanders can expect almost unbroken sunshine and a tad warmer temperatures.
By midday on Friday, there will be a low to moderate risk of ground frost and no risk of air frost.
A flood warning remains active for Bembridge, Brading, Sandown and the surrounding areas of the Eastern Yar this evening, says the Environment Agency.
A spokesperson from the Environment Agency said: “This means properties are at risk of flooding. Please take action to protect yourself and your property and monitor local weather and river conditions.
“Avoid contact with, walking or driving through flood water. Consider activating any property flood protection products you may have.”
Gritters will also be out on the Island's roads tonight and into the early hours, with runs that started at 4pm through to 4am.
An Island Roads spokesperson said: "Please take extra care driving in these conditions and remember, ice can form even on roads that have been gritted."
