A WELL-KNOWN Isle of Wight '80s band has released a ten-track cassette containing a mix of studio, demo, live and radio recordings from the archives – raising money for a charity so very close to their hearts.
Bobby I Can Fly have collaborated with Island company Chalkpit Cassette Club for the release.
The content of the ten-track offering was all recorded back in the mid-1980s.
Between 1985 and 1988, Bobby I Can Fly played more than 100 gigs, garnering fans from across the Island.
Their admirers followed them from their early residencies at the Royal Tavern and the Metropole Hotel in Ventnor to various venues across the Island, across the water to the Joiners Arms in Southampton, and for their final, pinnacle gig at the Astoria in London.

“This is a non-profit release, raising money for local charities, as we did with our 20-track CD produced to coincide with our reunion gig in 2014, when we raised money for the Isle of Wight Youth Trust and the Quay Arts Centre,” said David Baker for the band.
“This time, all profits from the cassette release will go to dementia services on the Island, as members of the band have lost parents to this horrible disease.
“Chalkpit Records produce and duplicate all the tapes on the Island, so production time is approximately 2-3 weeks for cassettes - quick in comparison to vinyl!
“The songs have been digitised locally by Andy Neill, and it is exciting and really cool to release these songs nearly forty years later, on the very format they were recorded.
“The tape costs £10, and £5 of that will go to dementia services on the Isle of Wight.
“If you don't own a cassette player, there is a free download, so you can use the tape as a paperweight, a doorstop or to scrape the frost from your windscreen, as we all did it back in the day.”
