In a statement to the Isle of Wight County Press, Southern Water said: "We are sorry for the disruption caused by a burst wastewater main in Cowes High Street in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).
"Our team is on site now to prevent further flooding and assess the damage to the pipework so we can begin repairs as soon as possible.
"We will contact businesses and customers who have been directly impacted by the burst, which took place near the public slipway.
"Traffic diversions will be in place for the duration of the repair and restoration of the road, which is likely to last for a week.
"Pedestrian access to the area should be unaffected.”
