WINDOWS smashed, stones thrown at cars, youths running riot on a bus.

All these are incidents that have happened recently in Freshwater, and now a public meeting is being held to try to stop the anti-social behaviour in the village.

Residents are being urged to report every incident to police and to attend the meeting.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary have pledged to send an officer along to the meeting, which is being held at 6pm on Monday at West Wight Sports and Community Centre.

The centre itself has been repeatedly targetted by youths.

Last night, several police cars were in School Green Road and two youths were arrested.

A spokesperson for the West Wight Sports and Community Centre said: "The incidence of criminal and nuisance behaviour by youths has escalated and is affecting several local businesses and residents.

"We are hosting a public meeting to discuss the issue and hope that the police will attend to assure us of their support in this matter. Please come along and/or spread the word."
