A SERVING prisoner accused of a violent attack against prison staff at HMP Isle of Wight, will stand trial.
Roberto French denied assaulting a member of the Newport prison's dedicated search team, inflicting actual bodily harm against him, and assaulting an emergency worker, namely a prison officer, by beating, while in the execution of his duty, at the Albany wing of the jail, on November 4, 2021.
He appeared before Isle of Wight Magistrates by video link last Tuesday.
The 25-year-old was remanded in custody to reappear for a plea and trial management hearing, at the Isle of Wight Crown Court, on February 13.
