The Isle of Wight coastal path is now closed between Luccombe and Bonchurch, after part of the land collapsed.
Diversions are being put in place today (Tuesday), the Isle of Wight Council told the County Press.
County Hall said it would be monitoring the situation after an area of land dropped by at least a foot, making a garage there inaccessible.
An Isle of Wight Council spokesperson said: "The coastal path affected by the landslip has been closed and no attempts should be made to look at the damage or walk the path."

It added: "The council will be erecting temporary coastal path diversion signage and the situation will be monitored.
"Reopening opportunities will be considered once the current damage has settled.
"We would like to remind people that during winter and stormier weather, the cliffs around the Island's coast are susceptible to cliff falls caused by erosion from the sea, wind and rain.
"Everyone should be mindful of the risk of rock falls and landslips."
