WALRUS ‘Thor’, who visited the Solent earlier this month, has once again come ashore for a rest during his northward journey – this time in the Yorkshire seaside town of Scarborough.

The marine mammal was found resting across the Solent on Sunday, December 11, after hauling himself onto Calshot beach following travels along the Dutch and French coasts.

Thor was filmed leaving the stone beach at around midday the next day.

He arrived in Scarborough yesterday evening (December 30) and has drawn huge crowds to the harbour on New Year's Eve.

The Sea Life Scarborough aquarium said its animal care team is monitoring the walrus’s situation, along with the RSPCA and British Divers Marine Life Rescue.

They wrote on social media: “Please do not worry – he appears well and is just taking a well-deserved rest after his long adventure!

“Hopefully, within a few days, he will have got enough rest to move on and continue his adventures north!”
