What a year it has turned out to be for Isle of Wight indie-rock band Wet Leg, releasing new music and announcing all manner of new plans!
According to the latest numbers for 2022, the Island outfit's hugely anticipated self-titled debut album has been storming the vinyl sales chart.
It is currently fifth, just behind former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher’s C’mon You know.

Topping the current vinyl sales charts is Taylor Swift’s Midnights, former One Direction's Harry Styles’ Harry’s House and Arctic Monkeys’ The Car!
Off the back of their 2021 success, when they exploded onto the global music scene, this year has also been a big one for the offbeat Island offering, fronted by Hester Chambers and Rhian Teasdale.
It's been a stellar 12 months, culminating in a Mercury Music Prize nomination and the band’s debut album, which topped the UK album charts in the first week of its release.
Wet Leg in February 2022
In February, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl heaped praise on the Isle of Wight band.
He revealed how eager he was to see them live and lauded their "brilliant videos".
Wet Leg in March 2022
In March, the duo appeared on US heavyweight talk show The Tonight Show, starring Jimmy Fallon.
Rhian Teasdale, Hester Chambers and their band performed Chaise Longue for the NBC top-rated show.
Wet Leg in April 2022
In April, the band’s debut album was named the UK's number one album on the official charts, and the quirky duo's debut release was also number one in Australia.
BBC DJ Scott Mills broke the UK news live on Radio 1.
They beat the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Father John Misty to the number one spot, pushing Olivia Rodrigo and Ed Sheeran down the charts.
The new release outsold the rest of the Top 5 combined, earning them the second-biggest opening week for any chart-topping album in 2022 at the time.

Wet Leg in May 2022
In May, pop icon Harry Styles covered Wet Leg’s single Wet Dream on BBC Radio 1.
Weeks before, it was announced that Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers would support Harry Styles on tour in 2023, in Australia and New Zealand.

Wet Leg in June 2022
Isle of Wight Festival Sunday meant a momentous homecoming for Wet Leg.
Last time they played there, in September, it was to a small and select crowd of festival-goers in-the-know.
But what a difference nine months made.
The Big Top was full to the rafters, and there were as many people outside as there were inside.
Just one week after they smashed the Isle of Wight Festival, Wet Leg won over a giant crowd at Glastonbury.
Hester Chambers and Joshua Mobaraki of Wet Leg also visited the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary to adopt some donkeys, and later took a toy mascot donkey on stage with them.

Wet Leg in August 2022
On a tour of North America in August, at Neptoon Records in Vancouver, Wet Leg chatted with veteran interviewer and radio presenter Nardwuar the Human Serviette.
They revealed a former job at Robin Hill County Park and their love for a Ventnor pub.
Wet Leg in October 2022
In October, The Island outfit lost out to the Islington-born musician, Little Simz, in the album of the year category at the Mercury Music Prize awards.

Wet Leg in November 2022
After narrowly missing out on a prestigious Mercury Music Prize, the band have also been for five Grammy Awards and they will find out if they have won in a matter of weeks.
They are nominated in the categories for best new artist, best alternative music album, best remixed recording, best engineered album, non-classical, and best alternative music performance.

Later in November, they performed on the Jonathan Ross Show.

The 65th Grammy Awards will air live on Sunday, February 5, from Los Angeles' Crypto.com Arena.
Plus, the band is due to go on world tour with Harry Styles.
