As pantomimes go, they don't come much more traditional than Cinderella.

With a top quality cast, great sets and bags of audience interaction, Spotlight IOW's adaptation of the panto staple at Shanklin Theatre was a Christmas joy.

It was the first time my daughter, Izzy, seven, had sat through a full-length show so would she be enthralled by the show...you bet she would!

Izzy came out of the theatre acclaiming it as "the best show she had ever seen" (apart from the circus and some films not a lot competition, but praise indeed).

The top-notch performances from the cast of well-known Island show folk, ensured there was something for all ages and no-one's eyes left the stage throughout.

Izzy and my favourite was the hilarious Dandini (James Derbyshire, who also produced and assisted with musical direction).

The moment where Cinderella arrived in her carriage after the audience shouted the magic spell was an amazing scene, it took Izzy’s breathe away and she looked so excited.

We went with friends and my mate Stacey said: "My son Riley liked Dandini and Buttons (writer and director Dominic Pope) the most as they were so funny and I liked Buttons the most because of the humour.

"I've got to say Emerline Storey as Cinderella and Dre Meloche (Prince Charming) had amazing voices though and completely captured you in the moment when they sang."

It is a little unfair to single out people really as the performances were all top drawer and the contemporary jokes and slapstick comedy had everyone in stitches throughout.

The only shame was that when we left the theatre, Cinderella was 'behind us'.
