AN ISLE of Wight urban sports academy, with more than hundreds of children on its waiting list, is asking the Island community for help as it plans to move into a larger, more suitable and purposeful home.

WightTricks Academy is attempting to transform an industrial workshop, with office space, into a fully functioning tricking gym, with a cafe, waiting and reception area.

With a project this size, considering materials, electrics, plumbing, decorating, safety, legal fees and much more, the costs involved are huge.

Since moving to the current unit, on Cowes' Prospect Business Park, the academy says it has had multiple hurdles to overcome, leading to the decision that moving is the only way growth can continue.

Robbie Bates, head coach and director of WightTricks Academy, said: “We're currently unable to open more than four hours per day, have restrictions on noise, parking and many other aspects, which is why we have such a big waiting list with no flexibility to add more classes.

“In our new premises, we'll have 24/7 access, meaning we can add brand new classes, socials, seminars, international gatherings, sleepovers, birthday parties and much more.”

WightTricks says that having more space and access to more/better equipment will do wonders for its students' progression and long-term enjoyment in the sport.

Robbie continued: “We firmly believe WightTricks has already heavily impacted its students. Helping us raise funds provides the certainty that we will continue to do so.

“We are extremely grateful and happy for ANY donations to us. No matter how big or small. It all helps and will 100 per cent go towards funding the new gym!

“As always, we are so thankful and grateful for such an amazing community. And we can't wait to show you our hopefully finished project after Christmas.”
