THE ISLE of Wight's only JD Sports store has reopened, earlier than expected, after severe conditions damaged the Newport High Street shop.
The sports-fashion retail store closed on Sunday (December 18), a week before Christmas Day, after a collapsed roof caused significant flooding inside the building.
Click-and-collect orders can now be collected from the store, and a pause on new orders has been lifted.
Speaking earlier today, prior to the store's reopening, a JD spokesperson said: “Due to damage caused by severe weather conditions, we temporarily closed our Newport High Street store on Sunday to ensure the welfare of our employees and customers.
“Repairs are underway, and we hope to reopen again very shortly.”
The store will be open until 5.30pm this evening (Tuesday) and will reopen at 9am tomorrow (Wednesday).
