JD SPORTS' only Isle of Wight store has been closed, bringing panic to many Island shoppers less than a week before Christmas.
The sports-fashion retail store on Newport High Street is displaying a message to customers explaining the reason for the closure.
The note says the store closure is due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’ and will remain closed until ‘further notice’.
The County Press has been told the store has been flooded following a collapsed roof.
A spokesperson for JD Sports said: “We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused, and we strive to reopen as soon as possible.”
Some Island customers may have ordered online from JD Sports and opted for click-and-collect from the Newport store.
For enquiries regarding store orders, customers are asked to call 01983 533376.
The County Press has approached JD Sports for a statement.
More to follow.
