FOUR pharmacies will open on the Isle of Wight on Christmas Day, with others opening for limited hours during the festive period, continuing to offer services and health advice.

The festive opening times cover Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Bank Holiday Tuesday (December 27), New Year’s Day and Bank Holiday Monday (January 2).
Pharmacies are only listed if they have notified NHS England that they will be open, and opening times vary for some pharmacies.

- Yarmouth Pharmacy in Yarmouth, from 8.30am – 6pm.

An NHS spokesperson said: “The times could be subject to change, so please check with the pharmacy before you travel, and/or you can visit the NHS England website for any updates or changes.”
Derek Sandeman, chief medical officer for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care System, said: “We would ask people who may need to order repeat prescriptions to please submit them in good time, and not leave them to the last minute.
“It might be pushing it for Christmas now, but it’s important to think about getting in your requests for the period between Christmas and the New Year.
“As well as being an invaluable High Street resource, pharmacies of course offer expert advice about over-the-counter medicines to treat common health conditions, as well as information on medication and a range of other services.
“There are lots of coughs and seasonal ailments doing the rounds at present, and pharmacists offer a fast and convenient service.
“Your pharmacist is also trained to advise you if you need to see a GP, nurse or other healthcare professional.”
