The large mammal was first spotted by fisherman Darren Mckell and his family who were out fishing in the early hours.
They contacted British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDLMR) who cordoned off the area along with the coastguard.
People were advised to keep a safe distance from the walrus as the creatures are protected from disturbance under UK law.
Thor was seen in the Netherlands at the beginning of November and has since been travelling along the coast of France before arriving in Hampshire according to BDLMR.
The surprise visitor was filmed leaving the stone beach around midday yesterday, with the solitary male steaming with its own heat.
