I WHOLEHEARTEDLY endorse Michael Hopper’s correction (CP online, 05-12-22) to the article by Rebecca Roncoroni (CP online, 28-11-22) about the costs incurred by patients attending hospitals in Southampton and Portsmouth.
I am a renal, not a cancer, patient, and have often had to attend Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth.
Whenever I travel on the hovercraft, not only do I receive a generous discount for the journey across, and car park fees can be reclaimed — as I related in a previous letter — but there waiting outside the terminal is the Daisy Bus, provided by the Wessex Cancer Trust.
If there are spare seats on the bus, the drivers, who are always helpful and courteous, are happy to take me along and bring me back.

The only drawback is that the return service stops at 2pm, but there are several buses from the hospital back to The Hard that link up with the Hoverbus to the terminal, all covered by a senior bus pass, if you have one.
