AFTER ten years of scaring the pants off Islanders, horror experience Park of the Dead has come to an end.

For the ten-year anniversary, the team took guests back to where it all began - with a reanimated version of the original 2012 storyline.

The final curtain fell on Sunday, November 27, but the creative juices are already flowing for a whole new experience – perhaps in a different location, and even greater than the last.

“I have a few other theatrical ideas I would like to develop over the next couple of years,” said its creator, Dan Gaches.

Isle of Wight County Press:

“I’m sure most of the cast would love to get involved.

“Ten years ago, I wanted to do a horror experience, but not your usual ghost walk.

“I wanted to do something more interactive and theatrical, so we came up with the idea for Park of the Dead, using the original features at Puckpool as the main inspiration for the story.

Isle of Wight County Press:

“After the first year, we knew we had created something totally unique for the Island.

“Each year, we changed the storyline, used different locations, introduced new characters, and devised all kinds of props.

“But over the past few years, we noticed the zombie genre was starting to thaw out, and we knew it was time to do something different.

Isle of Wight County Press:

“So with our last Park of the Dead production ‘Ten Years Later’, it felt right to bring it to a close.”

“As the final curtain fell on Sunday, it was very emotional.

“I would like to thank everyone that has supported us over the past ten years.

Isle of Wight County Press:

"It’s been our absolute pleasure to entertain you.

“I would like to give the biggest thank you to all the cast and crew, past, present, for their enthusiasm, energy and commitment.”

Screen writer and performer, Ian Dore, said: "We had this enviable opportunity to go wild, developing characters that lurked within our immersive world.

Isle of Wight County Press:

“It’s been a stonking ten years of messing about with your best mates, providing entertainment, and making new friends along the way.

“But you have to know when to get off the stage, and the time just felt right.

“Go out with a bang, and on our final fling, we did just that.”
