ISLE of Wight punk band, Grade 2, are set to release their third studio album in the new year.
The three-piece’s self-titled third offering is due for release on February 17, 2023, through Hellcat Records.
A thumping 15-track tour-de-force, the eponymous Grade 2 is their magnus opus, bringing old school punk to a new generation.
Forming the band when they were just 14 years old, Jack Chatfield, Jacob Hull and Sid Ryan honed their craft covering punk pioneers before creating their own, unique sound.
“From the complex rhythms and brutal two-note guitar of opening track ‘Judgement Day’, the record grabs by the scruff of the neck and never lets up,” said James Wallace of music press company Pomona.
“With a commitment to the cause, lead single ‘Doing Time’ is a thunderous hardcore punk track.
“Intertwined are upbeat bangers classic pop-punk, and savage old-school grit.
“The result is a bone-crunching 35-minutes that agitates, intoxicates and liberates in equal measure.”
In the build-up to their album release, the band have shared their new music video for single Under the Streetlight.
Of the track, the band said: “Even though there are times when life can feel stagnant, or things aren’t going to plan, there will always be people there to support you whether it’s mates, a partner, or your family.”
Frontman, Sid Ryan, said: “Like everyone else, 2020 left us proper f***ed off.
“Yet we were able to channel every ounce of that despair into every second of this record.”
