IT HAS been a source of fascination while it spent a few days in The Solent.
The world's largest warship, the USS Gerald R Ford, has now departed.
During the visit, sailors have had the chance to experience the culture of Portsmouth through recreation tours to popular cultural and historical landmarks around the city.
Ford deployed from Norfolk in Virginia on October 4 and has been conducting exercises with NATO allies, including Canada, Spain, Denmark, the Netherlands and Germany, throughout their deployment.
