"I can't say thank you enough."
These are the words of Reece Payne, who has thanked generous Isle of Wight County Press readers for their donations, which run into thousands of pounds.
Reece's heartbreaking story was shared on the County Press website last week and also featured as our front page story on Friday - and the County Press is the biggest selling weekly newspaper in the country.
The story told of how a fundraising campaign has been launched for the dad-of-two, who is fighting stage 4 bowel cancer and hopes that treatment abroad could save his life.
We reported last Friday that he had raised £8,400, but the fundraising page now stands at just over £12,000.
A flurry of dozens of donations came after the story was given publicity, and some donators commented on how they had read the story in the County Press.
Reece, 35, of Manor Road, Lake, said: "I've had about two grand's worth of donations just from the article. I can't say thank you enough to readers.
"Everybody who has donated gets me a step closer to my goal."
