Bogus websites are attempting to dupe drivers into giving up their bank account details.
There is a warning to those paying to park through the Isle of Wight Council's parking payment app, PayByPhone.
Fake sites ask drivers to register, and to give their credit or debit card details, before charging a subscription.
PayByPhone has confirmed it does not provide a subscription service and will never charge a card without your authorisation.
It is working to get the fake sites shut down.
To avoid the scam, download the PaybyPhone app directly from the App Store or Google Play Store, or call the official helpline, 0330 400 7275.
