ISLE of Wight bus firm Southern Vectis has increased its ticket prices, amid rising running costs, with its second price rise this year.
The Island bus company says its running costs have significantly increased, prompting a review of the cost of its fares.
Following the review, Southern Vectis has ‘reluctantly’ increased some ticket prices.
A spokesperson said: “This is not a decision we have taken lightly.
“We have kept any price rises to an absolute minimum.”
Single adult fares will increase by approximately 10p, 20p or 30p, and child singles will increase to ‘short hop’ £1.50, ‘medium hop’ £2.20, ‘long hop’ £2.70 and period passes, and multi-trip bundles will also have increases.
The £10 adult day rover will remain unchanged.
Some examples of increased prices include the child fare ‘medium hop’, which has risen from £1.90 to £2.10, the adult 48-hour rover up from £16.50 to £17.50 and the adult 30-day multi bundle increased from £117 to £130.
Southern Vectis says its best-value tickets are available via its mobile app, and for single and day tickets it recommends using its Tap On Top Off paperless ticketing.
Islanders may have some respite after the government announced plans to bring in a £2 bus fare price cap.
