A car was allegedly driven at pedestrians in Newport in the early hours of this morning Thursday, leaving two people with ankle injuries, Isle of Wight police have revealed.
Hampshire Constabulary is investigating an incident linked to a police cordon, outside TK Maxx on South Street.
The force said: "We are investigating an assault which took place in the early hours of this morning.
"Police were called at around 2.40am to the incident in which a vehicle was driven at two people. A man and woman, both aged in their 20s, suffered ankle injuries as a result."
It said those involved knew each other.
Its enquiries are continuing.
