Isle of Wight teenager Mila Lake, 16, overcame nerves to step out on The Voice stage last night (Saturday), performing Bebe Rexha's You Can't Stop The Girl for judges Anne-Marie, Sir Tom Jones, will.i.am and Olly Murs.

Her blind audition won her turns from three of the four - and a place in the next stage of the competition.

She told the ITV show she was so nervous she couldn't stop fidgeting and feared she would pull buttons off her sleeves.

Watched by her proud parents and older brother, and describing herself as shy, Mila said performing gives her a voice.

Mila said she wanted to inspire others dealing with anxiety.

After her performance, Sir Tom Jones said she had sung wonderfully well and called her angelic, praising her control on the long notes of a difficult song.

The former Isle of Wight Festival headliner said: "She's good as a button."

will.i.am, the only judge not to turn for her, said Mila had nailed the challenging parts of the song and called her fearless.

Anne-Marie said: "You have a very pure voice and you could hear that you have more to give.

"The older you get and the more you learn, I feel you could open that up. I could hear emotion and that's what really gets to me."

Olly Murs said: "I can only imagine what you're feeling.

"I didn't have the confidence that you have, at 16, to apply for a show like this."

Facebook has been inundated with messages of congratulations for the Isle of Wight Theatretrain member.

The group said in a Facebook post: "Mils, we are beyond proud of you! What a beautiful performance from a truly beautiful person!

"Lost for words... just lots and lots of tears... just wow!!!!"

One message called her an 'amazing Island talent', while another said she had made the whole Island proud.

After a glance at her family, waiting at the side of the stage, Mila picked Anne-Marie to take her through to the next step.
