THOUSANDS of properties in the East Wight are without electricity following a major power cut.
Some 141 post codes (PO35 and PO36) — between Sandown and Bembridge — have been affected by the power outage, first reported at 9.45am today (Saturday).
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) have apologised for the power cut and aim to have the supply restored by 1pm today.
SSEN said: "We're sorry for the loss of supply. Our engineers are on site working hard to get the power back on as quickly as they can.

Power has been restored to the vast majority of affected properties, with only six post codes in the Yaverland area now affected.
They are: PO36 8QG, PO36 8QH, PO36 8QJ, PO36 8QL, PO36 8QP and PO36 8QQ.

Electricity restored to all affected areas of the East Wight.
