Four Isle of Wight children have been bailed until Sunday, after police were called to a hotel in Sandown last night (Thursday).

Two 14-year-old boys and two 16-year-old boys were arrested on suspicion of burglary and abstracting electricity without permission, at the Broadway's former Parkbury Hotel.

One of the boys was also arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

The South Wight Neighbourhood Policing Team was patrolling the area when officers were called to the site, which currently stands empty.

Hampshire Constabulary said they found damage inside and a 'network' of extension leads, throughout the abandoned hotel.

The force says its officers were threatened with a wooden pole.

Isle of Wight police said: "We are working closely with the hotel owners to secure the site and get to the root of the issues.

"In the meantime, while that work is ongoing, we continue to ask people to keep reporting any concerns and issues to us, so we can take action against the group involved in the damage and anti-social behaviour."

It was also bought by the controversial Carlauren Group, which subsequently collapsed.

In July, fire crews were called to the property, to deal with a fire.
