Yesterday evening (Thursday, September 1), visitors to Ryde’s main summer carnival were entertained by marching bands, fancy dress and outstanding creativity from some of the Island’s leading artists.
The main procession got underway at 6.30 pm from the Esplanade and featured carnival royalty to community floats, lighting up the streets with joy and colour.
Setting off from the boating lake, the procession travelled along Dover Street, Park Road, Star Street, and Union Street, remerging onto the Esplanade and dispersed from the George Street junction.
A firm summer favourite, The Queen’s Beasts, from the Platinum Jubilee Pageant in London, wowed crowds once again.
If you missed the fun, the carnival was broadcast live on YouTube, with commentary from Joe Plumb.
