The moment Australian cricket legend Jason 'Dizzy' Gillespie called Isle of Wight cricket star Adam Hose, to welcome him to the Adelaide Strikers' T20 squad, has been shared on Instagram.

Adam's signed for Worcestershire for next season but in the meantime, he's heading Down Under, for one of the world's biggest T20 tournaments.

The 29-year-old has joined the Adelaide Strikers as one of their three overseas players.

The former Ventnor player will be a key part of the team for the Big Bash, which starts on December 13.

What is T20 cricket?

T20 (Twenty20, to give it its full name) cricket is a shortened version of the game.

Teams have a single innings, restricted to a maximum of 20 overs.

A typical Twenty20 game lasts about two and a half hours and was introduced to deliver more action to spectators.

Joining him will be Australia batsman Travis Head, who played for a season at Ventnor Cricket Club.

Hose's former Ventnor teammate Danny Briggs also played for the Strikers in the 2020-21 season.

In a phone call to Adam Hose, shared on Instagram, Adelaide Strikers coach Jason Gillespie said: "I'm so delighted to secure you, mate. Welcome to the Adelaide Strikers.

"We've been tracking you for a while and you're someone who was high on our priority list."

Adam said he was 'over the mood' and considers Adelaide a 'second home'.
