THE Isle of Wight’s penultimate main carnival of the summer season will get underway this evening (Bank Holiday Monday).

St Helens Carnival is returning for the first time since 2019 and at well over 100 years old it’s one of the oldest carnivals in the country.

Organisers are hoping that as many people as possible will enter the parade to celebrate the carnival’s return.

Festivities get underway from 9am with a car boot sale, at 11am village fayre stalls will open, and sports events will start at 1.30pm.
